Book nowThis October, Aviva Studios hosts Balkan Erotic Epic, the largest performance work ever staged by Marina Abramović - and one of Factory International’s most ambitious commissions to date. Featuring a cast of more than 70 performers, the four-hour epic draws on centuries of myth, ritual and erotic folklore from the artist’s native Balkans. Structured across 13 visceral scenes, it shifts between the intimate and the elemental – from fertility rites and ecstatic songs to bodies pressed to the earth in acts of invocation. Audiences are free to move through the space, discovering moments both tender and taboo-breaking.
Balkan Erotic Epic offers a rare chance to witness the fearless Abramović in Manchester, plus an exclusive artist talk on 11 October.
